Viral Outbreak, Day 3

The viral outbreak has affected everyone. Even if someone isn't infected, there is a very good chance that they are acting at least a little bit crazy. This morning began like any other normal Friday morning. I sluggishly woke up this morning, disappointed that I had to go to school, but still looking forward to the day. I got to school earlier than normal so that I could go to a meeting. My best friend Cayla was there with me, and after the meeting she was acting very odd. On the way to our 1st period English class, she was telling me a story. At first, she seemed very excited and eager to tell me this, but after I asked her a question about it, she gave me a disturbing look and griped about my ignorance. She seemed to have a continual mood swing for the rest of the day. I wasn't too worried about her at the time, but she seemed to be acting just like these other people who had suddenly become infected with the virus. I just thought it was a coincidence, and I was more concerned with other things.
After school, I had another meeting, and then Cayla was supposed to come to my house. However, during this meeting I began to feel sleepy and my arms were feeling stiff. I didn't feel good at all, and thought about calling Cayla and telling her to stay home. But I just thought that it would make me a jerk. At 8 PM she came, and we decided to go for a walk in the woods behind my house. As we neared the creek that divided the woods, we began debating over what music we thought was best in our swing choir class. I didn't pay much attention to where I was going during this conversation, and tripped over an old tree stump. I looked up after the fall and saw a man standing near the creek.
"Hello?" I called. There was no answer. Instead the man headed towards us, and he had quite the creepy look on his face. I didn't know who he was personally, but I knew what had happened to him, and knew what was going to happen to me. I climbed to my feet and motioned for Cayla to follow me as I ran away. We ended up getting back to my house just in time, and locked the doors as quick as we could. The man stood in front of my garage for a few minutes, then he turned around and walked away. Cayla was still trying to catch her breath, and when she finally did, she suggested that we try to find a way to kill the man. I told her that we shouldn't, and we can't just kill the man. I'm sure he'd be better off dead than staying in the condition he was in, but I believed that someone eventually would be able to find a cure for the disease.
Later that night, we watched a movie to get our minds off of the infection. I turned and looked at Cayla after the movie had ended, and noticed that she had a lost look on her face.
"Cayla, what'd you think of the movie?" I asked.
"Huh?"
"Are you alright? Has that deranged man gotten to you?"
"I don't know, I don't remember too much about him, all I know is that I don't feel good..."
Cayla's parents came to pick her up around midnight. I felt bad about having gone to the woods with her, but that man wasn't even supposed to be on our property. Where did he come from? I laid in bed that night just thinking about all of the possibilities, and I finally was able to fall asleep around four in the morning.
I woke up at 10 AM. I felt sick again. I told myself that it was just my nerves, and that the scare from last night has been getting to me. When I got up and on my feet, I looked out the window and saw that man standing in our driveway. My heart practically jumped, and after a few seconds, he disappeared into the air. I must have been imagining it. Strange...maybe I am sick. I just hope I'm not infected...
